Silly Kiddo

So here are a couple cute pictures that I found of Caleb. My dad sent this first one, captured while he was visiting with Kate earlier this summer. They took Caleb to Starbucks for a coffee/milk run and enjoyed a few donuts while they were at it. Some ask "Why?" Caleb and my dad ask "Why not?"
When he's not busy eating donuts, Caleb is busy trying to eat diaper rash creme. And actually, now that I think about it, this was the last time he tried to eat it. So I guess he got his fill.
There is a picture of me as a toddler in this exact same position...being caught red-handed after playing with diaper creme. Like mother, like son.

Caleb - 21 months

Caleb has become the most entertaining toddler. My brother asked me awhile ago what Caleb is in to. At the time, I had no clue. He really wasn't showing an affinity towards one thing in particular. Well that has all changed. He is now in love with trains. His new favorite thing to do is to play "choo-choo" by building immaculate bridges for his many trains. It's awesome to see him get so in to it, and awesome that he now can be occupied with something for more than 10 minutes. August and I are really enjoying all of this play time with Caleb.
For Caleb's first Christmas, his great uncles gave him a puppet set. We pulled this out the other day for a show and Caleb really got in to it. Notice though how he is not sitting in front of the show, but off to the side. He had to have a view of what was going on both in front of and behind the curtain. Sneaky kid.
These last couple pictures just made me smile.
Funny....
Serious...

Popsicles and Milk

Summertime!!! Caleb has yet to meet a popsicle he doesn't like.
I thought this maneuver took some good technique.
And what fun is a morning glass of milk if you can't enjoy it with your friends Froggie and Guy?
Also enjoyable is drinking the milk out of the cereal bowl, just like dad! (Should we discuss that bed head?)
Ending with a nice milk mustache.

Pool Party!!

Caleb is getting used to the pool this summer. We went a few weekends ago with Caleb's cousins. At first he preferred to just lay on August...
...but quickly got into the swing of things.

Boat Ride

A few weekends ago we took Caleb out for his first boat ride. At first he was a little in shock...this was one big bathtub we were riding around in. After he got over being "all done", he really started to enjoy himself!
Pointing out the birds...really I just like this picture because his profile looks like a biker dude with a mohawk and kickin' Spongebob Squarepants shades. And a life jacket with elephants on it...okay maybe he doesn't look like a biker.
One exciting boat ride leads to one pooped kiddo. He slept so well cuddled up between Grandma and Papa. Comfy spot.

Bike Ride

So just now as I was blogging about Guy, August took Caleb outside to play. As I was finishing up, I wandered over to the window to see what they were up to and saw that Caleb was riding his bike! This is the bike that he received from Aunt Ellen, Uncle Steve, Uncle Matt, and Cousin Sam for his 1st birthday. He's always been hesitant to ride it, quickly proclaiming "All Done", even though he gets to wear his special hat - which thank goodness he likes. So I was extremely happy this morning to see him just going along on the bike. I quickly grabbed the camera and ran outside in my pajamas to catch a few shots. August is so smart for showing him how to ride...that's what did the trick!!
So after running down the street to catch up with them and snapping numerous photos of this momentous occasion, August says to me "You could have at least put some shoes on." I hadn't even considered it. Didn't want to miss a moment.

Meet Guy

Hi Everyone - Meet Guy...formerly known as Mr. Foot. Guy is the character from Dr. Seuss's Foot Book. August and I have long referred to him as Mr. Foot, but in the last couple days have realized that Caleb would prefer if we all called him Guy. I am impressed with Caleb for naming his first thing.
You may remember first meeting Guy this past April when Caleb found him in his Easter basket. Their first meeting went well, ending with a kiss. Soon after though Caleb was a little afraid of Guy and even cried once because Guy was in his crib with him. That phase has passed however and Guy is now a good friend.
