Bike Ride

So just now as I was blogging about Guy, August took Caleb outside to play. As I was finishing up, I wandered over to the window to see what they were up to and saw that Caleb was riding his bike! This is the bike that he received from Aunt Ellen, Uncle Steve, Uncle Matt, and Cousin Sam for his 1st birthday. He's always been hesitant to ride it, quickly proclaiming "All Done", even though he gets to wear his special hat - which thank goodness he likes. So I was extremely happy this morning to see him just going along on the bike. I quickly grabbed the camera and ran outside in my pajamas to catch a few shots. August is so smart for showing him how to ride...that's what did the trick!!
So after running down the street to catch up with them and snapping numerous photos of this momentous occasion, August says to me "You could have at least put some shoes on." I hadn't even considered it. Didn't want to miss a moment.

Meet Guy

Hi Everyone - Meet Guy...formerly known as Mr. Foot. Guy is the character from Dr. Seuss's Foot Book. August and I have long referred to him as Mr. Foot, but in the last couple days have realized that Caleb would prefer if we all called him Guy. I am impressed with Caleb for naming his first thing.
You may remember first meeting Guy this past April when Caleb found him in his Easter basket. Their first meeting went well, ending with a kiss. Soon after though Caleb was a little afraid of Guy and even cried once because Guy was in his crib with him. That phase has passed however and Guy is now a good friend.

Caleb - 20 months!!

Caleb will be 20 months tomorrow - it's hard to believe!! He is a total ball of energy, running everywhere, always wanting to "Go!", and doing new things every day. Right now he is determined to figure out this whole shoe thing. He started with his tennis shoes, trying to put them on backwards, sideways, on the wrong feet...but he is very patient. We've started him off with his Crocs...those should be a good starting point.
Caleb is really into grinning these days and laughing at everything! I was driving him home from daycare the other day, singing along with some Phil Collins and Caleb was busting up. I didn't think it was that bad...it was a classic after all!
So I remember at Caleb's 12 month appointment the pediatrician asked if Caleb mimicked our behavior. At that point he was just using anything he could as a cell phone...now he's actually progressed to doing my work for me. He's a good little helper. This kept him busy for awhile and he didn't even seem to care that the computer wasn't turned on.
He is going to ace typing class.
And check out his skills with the mouse.

Father's Day

We had a good Father's Day weekend. We relaxed on Saturday and put down mulch on Sunday. Then Caleb and August got busy roughhousing - literally hanging from the doorways.

So much fun - again please!
Dinner with August's parents to celebrate the dads!

Columbia Trip = New Truck!

The Patterson's piled in the Galant this past weekend and headed to Columbia to check out a truck. August ended up negotiating for said truck for 3 hours!! and we left the dealership with it. It's an '07 F150 and it's lovely. Funny thing about this truck, it was built here in KC at the Ford plant...so it clearly belongs with us. Plus, it has already proved it's worth...on Sunday we used it to return Caleb's recalled crib! May the Galant continue it's long life in Columbia, the place where it first came from.

While in Columbia I really wanted to get Caleb's pictures in front of the columns. We even went and bought him a new Tiger shirt for the photo shoot. Well, when we got to the columns they were under construction and wrapped in what appeared to be packing materials and duck tape. So a photo shoot on the way back to KC had to do. Caleb was a very good subject.

Wedding Time!!

Two weekends ago Caleb made his debut as a ring bearer. He was awfully cute. We couldn't capture great pictures, but can't wait to see what the actual wedding photographer got! Between the bride and the mothers of the ring bearers ordering pictures, this photographer is going to stay in business for awhile.
This is a good action shot of Caleb...he did kinda just take off at the end, swinging his pillow all over the place...thank goodness they were not in charge of the rings or there would have been a mad search for them in the middle of the ceremony.
Caleb and I after the ceremony - all decked out with a party to get to!
This is a picture from the rehearsal the night before the wedding.
And in a retro pic, here is a picture of us when Caleb was 3 weeks old. My how things change.

First Hair Cut

As you can tell from the previous post and the picture below, Caleb was in serious need of a haircut. He had been sporting long locks for awhile, but he was asked to be in a wedding and no serious ring bearer has a mullet.
August and I decided to do the honors at home. It was pretty easy as we didn't cut too much off. Just trimmed up the back and the front...
...threw in a few layers...

...and voila! A new style for Caleb.

Back to Blogging!

I've got a lot of blogging to catch up on. For starters, here is a super cute picture of Caleb posing with his train set made by Grandpa Scott. He's finally gotten into scooting cars/trains/trackers around on the ground - the stuff big boys do when they play.
